This short text is said to have two parts: The Tao Ching and the Te Ching (Lees, 2011). Because of the style of writing which is poetic in nature, there is a variety of interpretations which are even contradictory. According to Lees (2011), the sacred book is written in classical Chinese which is said to be difficult to understand thus making contradictory interpretations and translations. In Bebell and FeraÃ¢â¬â¢s research (2000), they cited that there are over 100 interpretations and adaptations of Lao TzuÃ¢â¬â¢s text today. In the holistic analysis of the research conducted by Bebell and Fera in 2000, it revealed an overall similarity among different translationÃ¢â¬â¢s use of central concepts of Tao Te Ching though there are variance both minor and notable among them. The title can be translated literally to mean: Tao can be translated as Ã¢â¬Å"way Ã¢â¬ , or to mean Ã¢â¬Å"the WayÃ¢â¬ . ... Thus, it is very important to examine the topic extensively as it is very tricky and invites a lot of criticism. Support or Evidence: If the statements are contradictory, we have to re-evaluate and make sense of everything. To do this, we have to interpret the statements in a Taoist standpoint. If there is an existence of hierarchy of value, the statements which appear to attribute farther from the Tao must be carefully examined to determine existence of other int erpretation. However, it can be said that there are only few statements that attribute to amoral or immoral behaviour. In short, interpretations must be found to be coherent to the greatest number of statements in the text. Examples of the contradictory statements are the first two in the Tao Te Ching. The first statement states that Ã¢â¬Å"The Tao that can be spoken about is not the constant Tao.Ã¢â¬ According to Allinson (1994), this statement appears to suggest that the Tao cannot be described. The American Dream Essay Everyone has there own dream. Many just see it as just being happy. To others it may be becoming rich and having the perfect family. In life many people wonder how far would you go for you would go to obtain the american dream. How far would you go? The American Dream to me is having equal opportunity, to live without any worries, and doing the things in life that you love the most. Most would do all they can in power to make sure they come close to the American Dream. According to John Fitzgerald Kennedy Ã¢â¬Å" All of us do not have equal talents . But all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talents. Ã¢â¬ Kennedy was basically saying that we might not all have been create equally with the same gifts and talents. Are all of us created equally? Lots of the time we donÃ¢â¬â¢t treat each other as if we are all equal. Americans put each other in ranks call social classes. If we had a life without social classes everyone would be the same thing. No one would have to worry about having more power over one another. In the Declaration it quotes Ã¢â¬Å" All mean are created equalÃ¢â¬ (Jefferson 98) That means that every person is entitled to do anything that the most wealthy man does. Is it worth going that far and risking everything. People would go to far measures to do the things that make them happy in life. During the interview Barbara discussed the requirements for a public health nurse. The individual must have the ability to exercise independent judgment, planning and able to administer safe effective public nursing care. In addition be able to work effectively with individuals and families to assist them in the satisfactory solution of health problems, by recognizing and respecting of different cultural, ethnic and difference on health care practices. The nurse is also required to know disease prevention such as, different techniques on teaching, counseling, interviewing and resources available. Barbara stated that the most important part of being a public health nurse is being able to care . Barbara acknowledged that there are numerous individuals that she assists everyday that just want someone to exhibit that they care and understand. The education a public health nurse should obtain is a bachelorÃ¢â¬â¢s degree in nursing, which Barbara posses. Ã¢â¬Å"Public health nurses working with specific populations or in administration position should hold a masterÃ¢â¬â¢s degreeÃ¢â¬ ( Allender et al., 2010, p.839). Barbara discussed that before becoming a public health nurse she worked at St. Francis Hospital as med-surge nurse for five years, after that it was imperative that she change working environment. Barbara confirmed that working as a nurse in the hospital was extremely diverse then working as public health nurse. Ã¢â¬Å"Comparing public health nurse and general nurse, public health nursing is population based, focuses on the greater good, health promotion and disease prevention, and utilizes community resources. The general nursing is individual based, focus es on individual good, restoration of health and function, and manage resources at handÃ¢â¬ (Minnesota Department of Health, 2007). In the beginning Barbara thought that public health nursing would be a difficult job to gain knowledge of however, she established that it was exceptionally effortless and gratifying career to posses. Dreams have always helped people to strive hard and achieve that goal. When we were young, we faced the challenges life had to offer for us to become better people. I believe that being admitted to this institution is my way of acquiring the information needed for me to be of service to others. The knowledge that I have acquired can help me to further enhance my craft, and eventually lead for me to have new discoveries.I am one of those people who value education. As a young individual, I am on this continous quest of acquring knowledge, that I know can someday uplift me. I am very determined and I love helping other people.In preparation for this course, I took general classes like Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, Physics, and Medical terminology. I believe that these classes cou ld help me have a better understanding of the field I am venturing on. I am also taking Anatomy and Physiology this coming term.As a prerequisite to this course, I volunteered at the Radiation Oncology Department of the Grant Medical Center. I did fifty hours of clinical observation in this department.I also saw how patients with Cancer, specifically those diagnosed with Bladder Cancer, Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer, and Cancer of the Uterus were treated. It was interesting to see how people from this field can help in the diagnosis and treatment of certain diseases.I know that being admitted to your institution can help me achieve those dreams and be the best person that I can be.
